Fusion Collegiate Highlighted as Alberta Invests Over $100 Million Into High-School Career Programs

Calgary, Alberta – March 28, 2025

Fusion Collegiate is featured in recent news coverage as the Government of Alberta announces major investments to expand career-focused learning across high schools. Budget 2025 proposes $102.4 million over the next three years to grow career education programs, support dual-credit opportunities, and fund new collegiate schools across the province.

The investment includes $21 million for specialized classrooms such as carpentry shops, media studios, science labs, and heavy-equipment simulators—spaces that mirror the hands-on environments where Fusion Collegiate students already learn. An additional $6 million is earmarked for start-up costs for new collegiate schools, alongside $4.6 million to enhance dual-credit programming, and $1.4 million for off-campus education through organizations like CAREERS.

“We are working to set students up for success by strengthening job-focused education,” stated Minister of Education Demetrios Nicolaides. “This funding helps schools partner with businesses and post-secondary institutions to create programs that let students hit the ground running after they graduate.”

Fusion Collegiate student Francis Mazieta was featured in the story, sharing how collegiate training directly shaped his future. “Thanks to career-focused learning and the opportunities through Fusion and The Educational Partnership Foundation, I’m now working as a first-year apprentice plumber,” he said. “The hands-on trades training, high school credits, safety certifications, and real-world skills I picked up completely changed my life.”

Fusion Collegiate Co Founder Bradey Thompson noted that the provincial investment aligns with the school’s mandate. “Alberta needs young people who are prepared for high-demand fields. Collegiate programs give students the skills, clarity, and confidence to step into meaningful careers.”

As Alberta expands its commitment to career education, Fusion Collegiate remains at the forefront—providing pathways that connect students to in-demand industries while supporting Alberta’s future workforce.
