FAQ

No!  Fusion Collegiate is a publicly funded charter school. Charter schools employ certificated teachers and teach the Alberta Program of Studies. (as do all public schools)

A pathway is a series of courses and experiences that helps students to learn about an area of interest and to achieve credits, learning and knowledge that will help them to be successful in that field. Students are also able to get a “head start” on post-secondary studies while in high school with no tuition costs. This means that as students enter post-secondary they will have earned credits and or credentials necessary to succeed in that pathway. For instance students in the business and entrepreneurship pathway will be able to earn up to 9 university credits (3 courses) that they can use towards their degrees. Students also will visit and meet with industry professionals who will help them to learn about what it takes to be successful in the real world.

Collegiate schools offer specialized programming in a particular subject or field and provide all students with a clear pathway into post-secondary education and careers in their chosen field.  In partnership with post-secondary institutions and industry partners, collegiate schools bring together students with similar interests to benefit from enriched programming, specialized facilities and enhanced learning opportunities through a unique delivery model.

To deliver vocational and skilled pathway education that seamlessly fuses secondary and post-secondary learning.

Fusion is very excited to partner with the University of Calgary to provide dual credit opportunities to all of our students. We are working closely with U of C in our Business and Entrepreneurship Pathway to help students develop the knowledge and skills required if they choose to study business, entrepreneurship, or a related field.  This program serves as a jump start into a wide range of career paths and personal growth opportunities.

Olds College is another one of our valued partners. Students in both the Skilled Trades Pathway and Animal Health and Sciences Pathway will have the opportunity to develop their foundational skills and workplace competencies.  They may also achieve post-secondary transition courses or full certification in their pathway choice.

In addition to post secondary partners we are proud to partner with Junior Achievement and other industry and business partners in order to provide students with hands-on experiential learning.

We are continuing to build relationships with many post secondary institutions and will be able to announce those partnerships soon!!

Dual credit means a course or series of courses that offer both post-secondary and high school credits at the same time.  Dual credit courses are offered as a partnership between a post-secondary and secondary institution.

Great! An important part of high school is discovering what you love and what you don’t. If you are accepted into a pathway and find out it isn’t for you we will help you to find a pathway that is a better fit. The courses that you have taken will still count towards your diploma and we will support you to revise your learning plan.
