Discovery & Exploration

What do you want to do when you grow up? Do you have an idea? Have no clue? Come to Fusion and explore your interests, get to know yourself better and discover your career options. You will investigate various career pathways that interest you and engage in career connected, experiential learning in order to develop a plan for your future based on your preferences, values and abilities. You will learn how to research and analyze labour market information in order to help you choose and compare potential career options. Fusion will empower you to make informed choices about your future. 

Your career possibilities are endless! Anything is possible! Whether you decide to be a pilot, teacher, construction millwright or nuclear medicine technologist, the knowledge and skills you acquire will serve as a jump start into a wide range of career paths and personal growth opportunities.

Grade 10 : Connect

Students will take foundational courses and participate in a rich array of ‘Calgary is our Classroom’ learning to make personal connections to career options that resonate with who they are and what they want for themselves. Students will also take their first dual credit course with the University of Calgary.

Calgary is our Classroom

In the Discovery & Exploration pathway students will participate in the following Calgary is our Classroom real world learning experiences.

  • University and College On-campus Series
    • As a Collegiate we work in partnership with the University of Calgary, Olds College and SAIT. Students have the opportunity to enjoy rich and immersive experiences on-campus with our post-secondary partners. At the University of Calgary, students will spend time as a student for a day and explore the Haskayne School of Business as well as other programs. Students love this opportunity to see what real campus life and learning has to offer. At SAIT and Olds College there are opportunities to explore skilled trades and other career possibilities.
  • Workshop & Challenge Series
    • Students participate in skill development workshops and research.
  • Guest Speaker Series
    • Students have the opportunity to learn from and with Calgary and international entrepreneurs. Interesting speakers from all lines of work share their experiences. This creates the opportunity for reflection, curiosity, questioning and further investigation.
  • Tour Series
    • Experiencing different occupations right here in Calgary. Through this tour series students get excited about their opportunities and use this first hand knowledge to make informed decisions about areas of interest within their studies, and plan for their future.
  • Certifications and Micro-credentials
    • First Aid & CPR
