Calgary, Alberta – December 19, 2025 — Fusion Collegiate is excited to highlight the Government of Alberta’s recent investment of nearly $4.5 million in dual credit programming across the province, a move that significantly strengthens career-focused education and unlocks expanded pathways for high-school students preparing for post-secondary success.
The funding, announced this November, is designed to support the creation of new and the enhancement of existing dual credit courses for students in Grades 10 to 12. These programs allow students to earn both high-school and post-secondary credits simultaneously — giving learners a meaningful head start in fields such as carpentry, automotives, welding, hairstyling, health-care aide training, and more.
“Dual credit courses help high school students explore jobs and get a head start — whether it is in the trades, post-secondary or pursuing their passion,” said Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Education and Childcare. “Our government is proud to support these pathways to rewarding careers and lifelong success.”
Under the new round of funding, $1.6 million has been allocated to help school boards launch 33 new dual credit programs, and $2.8 million has been earmarked to enhance 29 existing ones. This includes targeted support for health-care aide programs, helping to address labour shortages in vital sectors and giving students access to high-quality training.
In addition to program grants, Alberta is accepting applications for collegiate school funding for the 2026-27 school year, with $8 million in operating support and $21.5 million in capital investment available to help start or expand collegiate schools like Fusion Collegiate.
“Collegiate and dual-credit funding supports us in delivering world-class pathway education … ensuring students graduate with confidence, purpose, and readiness for their futures,” stated Bradey Thompson, Co-Founder of Fusion Collegiate.
Dual credit and collegiate programs continue to play a central role in Fusion Collegiate’s mission to prepare students for meaningful post-secondary study and careers. Over the years, Alberta’s investments in career education — including through Budget 2025 — have broadened student access to hands-on learning and industry-aligned skills, propelling workforce readiness across high-demand sectors.
Fusion Collegiate remains committed to helping students seize these opportunities, further strengthening pathways from secondary school into the skilled trades, animal sciences, aviation, and beyond.
