Fusion Update – February 6, 2026

Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we move through January.

On January 19, we held our School Council meeting, providing a valuable opportunity to connect with parents, share ideas, and discuss ways to support school initiatives. Director of Partnerships and Pathways, Ms. Betterton, shared an exciting update on how our pathways continue to evolve through post-secondary and industry partnerships. Families heard about the wide range of authentic learning opportunities available to Fusion students, from students taking flight through the Calgary Flying Club, to earning dual credit (high school and post-secondary) courses in areas such as business, psychology, marketing, health sciences, tourism, sport management, accounting, plumbing, welding, auto service, RV technician training, and coding.

We also celebrated a successful January 14 Open House, welcoming over 300 guests eager to learn more about Fusion Collegiate. A highlight of the evening was hearing directly from students, who shared how supported they feel by caring teachers, kind classmates, and the valuable learning they experience both on and off campus. With the help of 22 student volunteers, guests gained an authentic glimpse into what it means to be a Fusion student.

We are also excited to share that our Redbird Flight Simulator has arrived onsite and is scheduled to be installed and fully set up, with teacher training completed by January 30. This state-of-the-art simulator, made possible through a Collegiate Grant from Alberta Education, replicates the experience of flying a Cessna 172, one of the most widely used training aircraft in aviation. The simulator will play an important role in our Aviation Pathway, providing students with hands-on, immersive learning that builds skills, confidence, and exposure to careers in aviation.

Thank you for being an essential part of the Fusion community.

Fusion Update – January 12, 2026

It has been wonderful to welcome students back to school this week! There is a lot happening as we launch several new clubs, including Investment Club, Rock Band, and Karaoke. We are also busy planning for Semester Two, Fusion Friday activities, and our upcoming Open House.

It has been exciting to see the walls of our new gym—scheduled to open in September 2026—being constructed so quickly. Students have also enjoyed watching the many skilled tradespeople at work just outside their classroom windows. Fusion students will have access to the gym beginning next year, and Physical Education 20 will be offered as an option for Grade 11 students.

I would like to remind students and families of the importance of regular attendance and punctuality. Consistent attendance and being on time are essential for academic success and help students develop positive habits that are important for future employment. Arriving on time also allows teachers to deliver lessons and instructions smoothly, without the need to repeat information multiple times.

Report cards will be available for viewing at the end of the month. As a reminder, core classes—English, Social Studies, Math, and Science—are full-year courses. Option Pathways courses, including Business, Skilled Trades, Health and Animal Sciences, Leadership, and Art, run for either a half-year or quarter-year. Students will begin their Term 2 Option Pathways courses at the end of the month.

Fusion Update – December 19, 2025

As the year draws to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for the trust and support you place in Fusion every day. Our halls have been filled with energy, creativity, and meaningful learning, and it has been a pleasure to watch our students challenge themselves and take pride in their progress.

As we wrap up the year, please take a moment to review the upcoming dates and events. There is much to celebrate as we reflect on the growth, accomplishments, and determination our students have shown this year. I wish you and your family a joyful and restful holiday season. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year, refreshed and ready to continue building on the great work already underway.

Fusion Update – December 10, 2025

It was an honour to meet Prime Minister Carney and share information with him about our skilled trades programming offered in partnership with the Educational Foundation and Ironworkers Local 725. The Prime Minister shook every student’s hand and encouraged them about the positives of a career in the trades. He expressed appreciation for our career focused programming and was very complementary about our school’s vision and mission. A memorable day for Fusion to be sure!

December is shaping up to be a busy month at Fusion, so be sure to see below for important dates and events.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. We’re looking forward to finishing the calendar year strong and celebrating the many ways our students are growing, exploring, and leading.

Fusion Update – October 30, 2025

At Fusion Collegiate, we continue to help students see Calgary as their classroom and explore a wide range of career pathways as part of our programming.

Our Calgary is Our Classroom experiences are designed to be diverse and exploratory, offering students hands-on learning in partnership with industry and post-secondary organizations. Many of these opportunities have limited space, but we aim to offer popular experiences again later in the year.

As students think about their futures, there is great value in learning about an industry that might be completely different from their current interests, you never know what might spark curiosity! There’s also equal value in discovering what may not be the right fit.

This week, Fusion students will take part in a variety of experiences, including:

First Responders
The Calgary Humane Society
The Calgary Roofing Association
Rocky Mountain Air
SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology)
A special thank-you to Ms. Plewes for her tireless work in coordinating these meaningful opportunities with our community and industry partners.

Fusion Update – October 10, 2025

We are so excited to welcome you to our beautiful new space on
the 4th and 5th floors of the Calgary Charter Hub!

Our evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria with a short
presentation. Following that, families will have the opportunity to tour
the school with their students and meet our amazing teaching
team.

We can’t wait to share our new home with you and look forward to
connecting as we kick off this exciting new chapter together!

Fusion Update – September 23, 2025

We are excited to announce our very first Fusion Friday, taking place on Friday, September 26, which will also mark the launch of our school’s inaugural Terry Fox Walk—a meaningful event that celebrates perseverance, community, and the legacy of a true Canadian hero.

Students will depart from the school at 9:15 AM and walk together to the Jack Simpson Gym located on the University of Calgary campus. This walk will serve as both a tribute to Terry Fox and a celebration of our school spirit.

Once at the gym, students will have the unique opportunity to watch some of the top USport men’s volleyball teams in Canada compete. This is a fantastic chance for our students to experience high-level university athletics and engage with the broader university community.

We’re looking forward to a day filled with energy, inspiration, and school pride. Thank you for your continued support in making Fusion Collegiate a vibrant and connected learning community.

Fusion Update – September 18, 2026

Exciting News – Moving to our new floors!

We are thrilled to share that on Wednesday, October 1st, we will be moving into our brand new spaces on the 4th and 5th floors. On that day, staff will be ready to meet students at the front entrance and guide them to their new classrooms and learning spaces.

Students in the Skilled Trades Pathway and Veterinary Technical Assistant Certificate programs have begun classes on the 5th floor in the areas that are complete. The excitement among them is wonderful to see and so fun to share!

We look forward to welcoming families to see our new school soon! Our Meet the Teacher and Tour event will be scheduled once everything is fully set up and ready to explore.
